This morning we headed into the city to visit High Park and spend some time in nature, after what felt like forever! We left super early this morning to avoid the crowds, and made sure we stayed 2 meters apart from other people in the park.
At first I was a bit anxious about doing this, because it felt like we were taking an unnecessary risk. But once we got there, it felt very safe. There wasn’t as much people out since we were very early, and we were able to explore some of our favourite corners of the park.
It was nice to be back in the city, even if just for a few hours.
It was also great to see so much wildlife! I spotted a Baltimore oriole for the first time, as well as numerous great blue herons, red-winged blackbirds, swans, turtles, wood ducks, and more!
The highlight was one very fashionable toad hopping around with a cherry blossom petal on its head.
We were also able to see a few remaining cherry blossoms! This was a nice surprise. I assumed the blossoms would have been long gone by now, but there were still a few trees with some blossoms remaining.
