It’s officially the first weekend of spring, the birds are back and the sun is shining!

Today we ventured off to the west end of the GTA and explored the Rattray Marsh Conservation Area in Mississauga.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of trails and parks and conservation areas in the Mississauga area! For some reason, I always thought they were much further west or north of the area. I was also pleasantly surprised by the woodpeckers at Rattray Marsh! There were many of them flying around from tree to tree, and seemed quite comfortable being near people. We got pretty close! Not only did the area have a plethora of birds, we also had a gorgeous view of the lake and the Toronto skyline from the waterfront.

I’ve been much more interested in birds lately than usual – photographing them, listening to them, watching them, trying to identify them.

If you have any tips for bird photography (getting sharp images when they fly around, etc.), leave them in the comments below! 🙂 I’d love to learn some new tips and tricks.
